What if you fell into Jupiter?

Level: A2 and up

Humans have explored the Moon, Mars, and of course, Earth. But what do we know about Jupiter? For the most part, this gas giant is a mystery.

So what would happen if you wanted to discover it for yourself and jumped right onto the planet? Or should we say into?

Because Jupiter doesn’t have a surface, just a seemingly endless stretch of atmosphere. Would you fall straight through? What would you see on your way? And how would it make you feel?

Just a great class based on a fun science video from ‘What if …’ YouTube channel.

With a great worksheet from Dolce Dario.

Lucas the Spider – I’m starving.

Level: K – 5th grade

luces

Another cute YL class based on Lucas the Spider video. You might want to use it as short intro to more food vocabulary classes or as full blown lesson (up to 45 min).

This time Lucas is really hungry. He takes his friend, the Fly, and they try to find some food.

Before watching.

Do a couple of rounds of Flashcard and Learning mode of this Quizlet set:

https://quizlet.com/_88pi5j?x=1qqt&i=sje7e

Discuss:

  • What do spiders eat?
  • What do flies eat?
  • What do you think Lucas likes to eat?

Watch the video. I recommend slowing it down to 75%. You might want to use subtitles if your kids can read.

Lucas the Spider – Transcript

After watching the video. Discuss:

  • What does the fly like to eat?
  • What does Lucas like to eat?
  • What do you like to eat?

The kids might want to draw the characters and things that they like and do not like. If you like CLIL activities you might encourage kids to make a table with LIKE/DON’T LIKE data in columns to practice math skills.

Have fun!!!

Who knows me better – Brent Rivera

Works great with all levels and ages from A2 up.

Brent Rivera is an American social media personality and actor.

This is a ‘Who knows me better’ video with his sister Lexi and girlfriend Eva. Students try to complete the missing information about Brent.

After each question, give students opportunity to talk about themselves. Not only will you practice Q/A  but also find out lots of interesting stuff about your students.

Have fun!!!

Lucas the Spider – It’s hot.

Level: K-5th grade

lucas

The corona virus season is up and running. Here comes another online friendly lesson. I planned it for zoom.us or any other app that allows screen sharing and video meeting.

The class is based on an episode of ‘Lucas the Spider’.

Start with a presentation of vocabulary in Quizlet (flashcard mode):

https://quizlet.com/496398940/lucas-the-spider-its-hot-flash-cards/

Use the learn mode or do a live game to practice the vocab.

Watch the video:

https://www.voicetube.com/videos/83676?ref=kids

Start with repeating and TPR miming each sentence. Later play the entire video at once. Ask kids some comprehension questions about the video.

  • Does Lucas like it on the tree? Why?
  • Does Lucas like it next to the barbecue? Why?
  • Does Lucas like it by the pool? Why?
  • Does Lucas like it under the tree? Why?

Finish with a discussion on what kids like to do in different seasons of the year.
